Perhaps the most difficult thing to do in this world is that which we most desire. Our dreams. Our dreams give us meaning and they ought not to be ignored. Here are five reasons you might as well get going with what you were born to do. 5 reasons to follow your passion.
“I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.” — ALBERT EINSTEIN
5. You become proud of your Individuality.
That thing you are afraid of telling everyone you want to do with your life. The idea that you can’t stop thinking about, day after day, that’s you. It is who you truly are. So stop running away from it. I am saying this to you now, but I know you are more worried about what your friends and family will think. I get it. I am a stranger, and they love you.
They don´t think you know what you are talking about. They believe that you are throwing your life away. Some of them believe that you are a fool.
But Einstein said:
“Everybody is a Genius. But If You Judge a Fish by Its Ability to Climb a Tree, It Will Live Its Whole Life Believing that It is Stupid.”
Take it from someone that has had his battles with insecurities, finally now realizing the strength in self-belief. Your ideas aren’t stupid. But it´s your challenge to work so hard that everybody finally sees what you see. I am calling it work, but give you a chance, and you will find that purpose and self-discovery feels like play.
If we all agree that, Einstein is a genius. And the great scientist is, in turn, telling you that you are brilliant. I think it’s a good idea to trust the man.
Einstein proposed the general theory of relativity. I suggest you believe in yourself and whatever your talent is. Trust your genius a bit.
“Nothing is as important as passion. No matter what you want to do with your life, be passionate.” — JON BON JOVI
4. Your success is at the end of it.
I’d be a jerk if I lied to you. It is going to be tough. I am sorry.
You are not that special. You do not get to be the first person alive to achieve success without failure. And guess what? Failure is going to come. It is part of the process. I hate to be the guy to throw the cliche at you, but sometimes things are what they are because we all already knew them to be true.
But every failure is only smoothing out your rough edges, moulding you into the person worthy of your success.
Time to give you a chance. Believe, and decide that you are never going to give up till you make it happen. Plan and work. Keep your head down. No one else needs to know why you don’t want to party so much anymore. Your success will explain it all to them after all the drunken nights they don´t remember anymore.
Besides Winston Churchill has already perfectly described success for the rest of us. As one of the greatest prime ministers of British history. He says:
“Success is going from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.”
I’d take it from one of the big three that helped obliterate the Nazis. His refusal to cave in contributed to the shape of the free world as we know it today. And you dare not do what you were put on this world to accomplish? I think not.
Don´t give up.
“If passion drives you, let reason hold the reins.” — BENJAMIN FRANKLIN
3. Each day will matter more.
John Wooden says:
“Make each day your masterpiece.”
And how are you going to do that if you are not doing something you love? If you are not passionate about the thing, you do every day? How do you not turn your back on the words of a ten-time NCAA champion? He dominated. You can too but you need your passion.
Mr Wooden also said:
“Learn as if you were to live forever; live as if you were to die tomorrow.”
How do you do that without passion? Dealing with a mundane grind that is making you miserable, makes everything Mr Wooden is saying to you, sound as if it were meant for everyone but you. But that’s not true.
It’s about time you stop feeling as if life is about waiting for a pension. You can make it more than that but do you think you have what it takes to turn your whole life around without that remarkable energy that is your passion? You tell me, please.
And if you can’t figure out a way around passion maybe it’s time to find work that feels like play.
You don’t need to be the next Steve Jobs, but it is your responsibility to find fulfilment. Never again should you look back at the last year, lamenting about all those things that did not happen in it. Passion fixes that. Time to know that thing that makes all the regrets go away.
“The big lesson of life is never be scared of anyone or anything. Fear is the enemy of logic.” — FRANK SINATRA
2.You will find happiness in striving for your greatness.
By far my favourite president and leader of all time, Theodore Roosevelt said:
“A soft, comfortable life is not worth living if it impairs the fibre of brain and heart and muscle. We must dare to be great; and we must realize that greatness is the fruit of toil and sacrifice and high courage- For us is the life of action, of strenuous performance of duty; let us live in the harness, striving mightily; let us rather run the risk of wearing out than rusting out.”
I´d listen to Teddy. Apart from being the 26th president of the United States. The man was a great defender of the people.
And if you don’t want to do it for him. Do it for that emptiness inside of you. Your passion is your happiness. Because we all are meant to be great at something and the joy of life is that you get to choose what you want to be great at. Working towards that, building it, that’s happiness. And it’s yours whenever you want it. You just have to try at a great goal that is worthy of you.
Because doing the same old things every day. Buying the next best thing, for some reason, it doesn’t make you as happy as they told you it would.
Start making some progress, fulfilling your potential and then see how you feel then. There is something in you, that you are capable of, that the rest of us can´t achieve. It is your contribution, no matter how small you think it is, someone out there needs it. Your story of perseverance, challenges, and achievement, just may inspire that girl that didn´t think she could be a doctor.
So yeah, don’t do it for us, do it for you. Your passion may need you more than you need it. Because without you, it doesn’t even exist. Don’t be selfish. Start making yourself happy.
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” — ELEANOR ROOSEVELT
1. Because you need to stop making excuses.
I decided to start writing articles using the quotes of others, mostly because reading many of these helped shock me into the courage of self-realization. Thus, I figured I’d try to let legends guide you. Legends that are no different from you. Except that an incredible challenge, a great dream came to their mind and instead of being afraid as you are, they made a decision.
That’s right. All that separates you, and the legends you adore is an unwavering decision. What you have in common with the miserable are your excuses. You need to make that decision you are willing to give everything to. The only decision that is ever worth the lifetime of a man.
You need the excitement of that thing that will scare you.
Known as the father of American Literature, a legend, Mark Twain said it best:
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born, and the day you find out why.”
He died a legend, never forgotten. And in you lies that same hero that never makes excuses. Another man that believed your potential, perhaps better than you do right now, Dale Carnegie, said:
“Remember, today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.”
He also said:
“If you are not in the process of becoming the person you want to be, you are automatically engaged in becoming the person you don’t want to be.”
In your inactivity, continuing as you are, making those excuses, you are choosing everything miserable in your life. Stop it. Give you a chance.
“Desire! That’s the one secret of every man’s career. Not education. Not being born with hidden talents. Desire.”
— BOBBY UNSER
It’s not easy. It takes a lot of planning and discipline, but you are made for it. You are in this world, as a human body that will unleash a passion. When it all said and done, your love won´t understand the excuses. And you won’t be able to forgive yourself. So do you. Now.
Much Love, Hasta Ahora.
